چکیده

We analyze clustering and (local) recurrence of a standard Markov process model of spatial domain coarsening. The continuous time process, whose state space consists of assignments of +1 or −1 to each site in Z, is the zero-temperature limit of the stochastic homogeneous Ising ferromagnet (with Glauber dynamics): the initial state is chosen uniformly at random and then each site, at rate one, polls its 4 neighbors and makes sure it agrees with the majority, or tosses a fair coin in case of a tie. Among the main results (almost sure, with respect to both the process and initial state) are: clusters (maximal domains of constant sign) are finite for times t < ∞, but the cluster of a fixed site diverges (in diameter) as t → ∞; each of the two constant states is (positive) recurrent. We also present other results and conjectures concerning positive and null recurrence and the role of absorbing states. Mathematics Subject Classification 2000: 60K35, 82C22, 82C20, 60J25.

The Ising model is one of the simplest models describing the interacting particles. In this work, we calculate the high temperature series expansions of zero field susceptibility of ising model with ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and one antiferromagnetic interactions on two dimensional kagome lattice. Using the Pade´ approximation, we calculate the susceptibility of critical exponent of fer...

Fixation for Zero-Temperature Stochastic Ising Models on the Hexagonal Lattice

We investigate zero-temperature dynamics on the hexagonal lattice H for the homogeneous ferromagnetic Ising model with zero external magnetic field and a disordered ferromagnetic Ising model with a positive external magnetic field h. We consider both continuous time (asynchronous) processes and, in the homogeneous case, also discrete time synchronous dynamics (i.e., a deterministic cellular aut...

Lifshitz' Law for the Volume of a Two-Dimensional Droplet at Zero Temperature

We study a simple model of the zero-temperature stochastic dynamics for interfaces in two dimensions-essentially Glauber dynamics of the two-dimensional Ising model at T= 0. Using elementary geometric considerations, we show that the (rescaled) volume of an initially square droplet decreases linearly to zero as a function of (rescaled) time. 1. INTRODUCTORY REMARKS In the early 1960s, Lifshitz ...

Nature vs. Nurture: Predictability in Zero-Temperature Ising Dynamics

Consider a dynamical many-body system with a random initial state subsequently evolving through stochastic dynamics. What is the relative importance of the initial state (“nature”) vs. the realization of the stochastic dynamics (“nurture”) in predicting the final state? We examined this question for the two-dimensional Ising ferromagnet following an initial deep quench from T = ∞ to T = 0. We p...

The initial drift of a 2 D droplet at zero temperature

We consider the 2D stochastic Ising model evolving according to the Glauber dynamics at zero temperature. We compute the initial drift for droplets which are suitable approximations of smooth domains. A specific spatial average of the derivative at time 0 of the volume variation of a droplet close to a boundary point is equal to its curvature multiplied by a direction dependent coefficient. We ...
